Restaurant sales during Super Bowl 2024 slightly down, DoorDash grew

Sales through Delivery Aggregators outperformed sales at restaurants during Super Bowl Sunday, growing 3.9% YoY according to Earnest credit card data. Delivery Aggregators sales reached approximately the same sales levels as Casual Dining and roughly half of those of QSR.
Sales at All Restaurants excluding Delivery Aggregators (including QSR, Fast Casual, and Casual Dining formats) were flat YoY, as a 0.9% YoY decline in Casual Dining sales offset weak QSR and Fast Casual growth. Sales at All Restaurants excluding Delivery Aggregators and Fine Dining formats grew 4.3% YoY in 2023.
DoorDash was the main driver for Delivery Aggregators overall, growing sales 7.4% YoY, increasing their market share to 54% nationally for Super Bowl Sunday. UberEats lost share as sales declined -1.5% YoY, landing 22% of game day market share.
