Chick-fil-A, Checkers, Taco Bell could gain from McDonald’s E. Coli outbreak

McDonald’s customers spent $307 at Chick-fil-A across the states where the brand’s Quarter Pounder beef has been entirely recalled, suggesting the latter could stand to gain the most consumers avoiding McDonald’s, according to Earnest credit card data. However, some smaller brands also make the list of top spending by McDonald’s customers. Checkers, Freebirds World Burrito, and Braums all are top fast food (aka quick service restaurants or QSR) spots for Rocky Mountain West McDonald’s customers.
Large national brands Taco Bell, Wendy’s, Sonic Drive-In, Raising Cane’s, Jersey Mike’s Subs, and Subway also could stand to benefit in the short term from McDonald’s customers eating elsewhere.
