Car Wash tickets shrink across US
Access chart in Dash.
Car owners are spending less to wash their cars in most regions of the country according to Earnest credit card data. Customers spent $29 per car wash in the Northwest in the first 6 days of November, down from $31 in October. Customers are also spending less in the Midwest, Southeast, and West so far this fall. The only region where tickets are rising is in the Southwest.
The highly seasonal car wash industry struggled to add new customers in recent months.
It has also been the focus of investor interest as rollup companies introduce subscription plans that help keep customers coming back. The subscription model has maintained higher customer retention and helped operators better plan for demand. Over 50% of customers at subscription pioneer Mister Car Wash come back after the first year (access chart in Dash).
