Arc’teryx drives Amer Sports growth before IPO

High-end outdoor brand Arc’teryx’s DTC sales outgrew major athleisure and activewear brands in 2023 in the run-up to parent company Amer Sports’ anticipated IPO, according to Earnest credit card data. Arc’teryx is known for expensive waterproof outdoor shells that became popular in the Gorpcore movement. The craze drove a divergence between it and larger brands like Patagonia and North Face in recent months. The brand sits within Athleisure, which comfortably outperformed most general apparel brands during the 2023 holiday season.
This growth came after Arc’teryx’s worked to shift its channel focus from wholesale to DTC, similar to Nike and other active brands in recent years. The shift has been part of Amer Sports’ strategy to reimagine its brands as more premium concepts–partnering with Maison Margiela and outfitting Rihanna for the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show.
Amer Sports will also include Wilson and Salomon at the time of its anticipated IPO.
